The Von Baer luggage range is for business travelers who fly often enough to know what fails first on the road. Over the years we've seen countless travel bags fail because of bad hardware and design: plated zinc that tarnishes and splits at the joints, polyester linings that tear and bonded leather that peels at the stitched edges - and so we designed our range specifically to fix this.

Our $495 to $1,995 range uses the same Cuoio Superiore Italian leather, solid brass hardware from Italian workshops and Italian cotton canvas lining throughout. We work with family-owned studios in Florence and Northern Italy, and are bags are backed by our 5-year repair warranty with duties pre-paid worldwide.

Von Baer designer luggage uses Cuoio Superiore certified Italian leather across every product in the range, paired with solid brass hardware crafted in Italian workshops and lined with fine Italian cotton canvas. Our leather is tanned over 48 to 72 hours using natural plant tannins (quebracho, mimosa and chestnut), three to four times longer than the 8-hour cycle other tanneries typically run. Our combination of certified leather, solid brass and cotton canvas is what survives the trip back: brass that doesn't tarnish, cotton that doesn't scratch what you keep inside and leather that develops a rich patina (rather than peeling at the corners).

• Cuoio Superiore Across The Full Range: Every bag in this range carries Cuoio Superiore certification. We chose this Italian leather standard because it requires laboratory testing and an independent on-site audit at the tannery at least every three years. We refuse self-declared leather grades because they carry no enforceable standard.
• Solid Brass Hardware Throughout: Our buckles, locks, base feet and zipper pulls are solid brass crafted in Italian workshops; the zipper teeth and tape are Japanese YKK on every piece. We treat hardware as the most common luggage failure point on a long trip; plated zinc alloy splits at the joints and tarnishes on the surface. Our brass hardware holds finish across the years the leather takes to develop a patina.
• Italian Cotton Canvas Lining: Our luggage is lined with fine Italian cotton canvas, including the wheeled carry-on. We rejected polyester and microfiber linings because they spot-clean easily but scratch what you keep inside. Our cotton canvas extends to every tier, lining the entry-tier crossbody with the same fabric as the flagship; the inside of a bag matters as much as the outside.
• Florence And Northern Italy Studios: Almost all bags in this range is handcrafted in Florence and Northern Italy by family-owned studios, in workshops where techniques pass between generations rather than scale up to factory volume.
• 5-Year Repair Warranty: We back every piece with a 5-year limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. Our remedy is repair-first, no charge to you. Our 5-year term isn't accidental: leather luggage built this way carries you for years of trips, not seasons.
• Duties And Taxes Included Worldwide: Von Baer pre-pays every duty, tax and shipping cost into the displayed price for the country we deliver to. If you've been hit with a customs surcharge on a previous international luxury order, we built the duty into the price on the page so you don't pay twice.
