Compared to softshell suitcases, hard shell-baggage is more durable, especially if you choose a bag with a polycarbonate shell. That material is solid and lightweight and bends when it’s hit. Hard sides, on the other hand, are typically not the greatest choice for those who enjoy being organized while traveling.

Hard shells hardly ever come with an external compartment and scarcely have more than two or three pockets inside. Therefore, a hard-side suitcase is probably not the best choice if you prefer to have specific items close at hand while traveling.
