Von Baer work bags carry Cuoio Superiore certified Italian leather on most products, paired with solid brass hardware from Italian workshops and natural cotton canvas lining.

• Cuoio Superiore Certified Leather: Our Cuoio Superiore work bags use Italian full-grain leather, certified by an external Italian institute through laboratory testing of each leather batch and on-site audits of the tannery at least every three years. Our certified tanneries take 48 to 72 hours per batch, working with natural plant-based tannins from quebracho, mimosa and chestnut and conditioning the hide with natural oils and tallow rather than synthetic finishing chemicals. Our Elegance tote and Model 1 handbag use full-grain pebble or croc-print leather rather than the certified vegetable-tanned, so Cuoio Superiore certification is on our work-focused tier and full-grain leather is on every bag in this range.
• Solid Brass And YKK Hardware: The City, Isabella, Liberty and 10X work bags carry YKK zippers with solid brass pulls, alongside solid brass locks, buckles and protective base feet from Italian workshops. We chose brass over plated zinc alloy because plated hardware tarnishes and chips at the joints years before the leather softens. Our hardware ages alongside the leather, not against it.
• Padded Laptop Sleeves On Most Bags: Our laptop-carrying bags include a padded sleeve sized to fit your laptop: 16-inch on the Elegance tote and 10X convertible, MacBook Pro 16 on the City laptop bag, 14-inch on the Liberty backpack. The Isabella shoulder bag and Model 1 handbag carry the day's essentials for non-laptop days. We added the laptop sleeve because a luxury work bag that can't protect a working laptop is an accessory, not a work bag.
• Discreet Brand Markers: Every work bag we make carries no logo plate, no metal nameplate, no printed brand name on the leather, just the discreet VB icon debossed into the inside of the leather and the engraved Von Baer mark on the lock and zipper hardware. We press the deboss without ink and engrave the mark on the brass itself. These markers identify the bag for the owner without announcing the brand to anyone else.
