Von Baer executive briefcases are handmade from Cuoio Superiore certified full-grain leather, with Italian-workshop solid brass hardware on every closure and fine Italian cotton canvas lining in the interior.

• Cuoio Superiore Certified Italian Leather: We use Cuoio Superiore certified full-grain leather, tanned over 48 to 72 hours using natural plant tannins like quebracho, mimosa, and chestnut, rather than the 8-hour chrome process that dominates mass-market briefcases. That slower absorption builds a deeper bond between the tannins and the leather's collagen, which is why our leather develops a rich patina rather than the cracking and peeling that chrome-tanned alternatives produce. Every executive briefcase in this range uses the same certified leather, from the slim 14-inch silhouette up to the triple-gusset flagship.
• Solid Brass Hardware Throughout: Every zipper, lock, D-ring, and protective metal foot on these briefcases is solid brass, not plated zinc. We chose brass across the closures because hardware is the most common bag failure point, and plated alloy chips at the joints under daily wear and tarnish through cold-and-wet commute cycles. Our zipper sliders are YKK on solid brass pulls, the combination we settled on because brass keeps its finish, whereas plated pulls chip.
• Fine Italian Cotton Canvas Lining: Our lining is robust Italian cotton canvas, the natural alternative to the polyester and microfiber linings most online leather brands and mass-market briefcases substitute for. We chose cotton because the natural canvas weave breathes, holds its shape for the life of the bag, and ages with the leather rather than against it. • 5-Year Repair Warranty: We back every executive briefcase with a 5-year warranty that covers defects in materials or workmanship and remedies them by repair rather than replacement. Our repair-remedy means an issue at year four gets fixed, not exchanged for a different bag with a different patina. We can offer five years because we don't expect to honor many of them.
• Complimentary Hand-Applied Blind Embossing: Every briefcase ships with up to four uppercase initials blind-embossed by hand into the matching leather luggage tag, at no extra charge. Our embossing placement is on the tag rather than the bag itself because the only marks on the bag are the small VB deboss pressed into the leather and the engraved Von Baer lettering on the lock and zipper hardware.
