Von Baer luxury messenger bags are built around high quality materials that last for decades - full-grain leather and solid brass hardware.

Most messenger bags at this size ship with bonded or split leather and chrome-plated zinc hardware: after a few seasons of carrying a 15-inch laptop, the zipper tarnishes, the seams pull at the strap rings and the flap peels along the fold.

Every bag in our range uses Cuoio Superiore certified Italian vegetable-tanned full-grain leather and solid brass hardware from Italy's workshops, the same material grade across our slimmest 1.1 kg (2.43 lbs) model and our largest 2.3 kg (5.07 lbs) convertible.

• Cuoio Superiore Certified Italian Leather: Every bag in this range carries Cuoio Superiore certification. Our leather batches go through laboratory testing, plus on-site visits to the tannery at least every three years by an independent institute. Our leather is tanned over 48 to 72 hours using natural plant-based tannins (quebracho, mimosa and chestnut), where the typical industry cycle is 8 hours of chrome tanning. Our leather develops a patina rather than peeling at the stitched edges as bonded leather does, because the slower absorption bonds the tannins deeper into the collagen fibers.
• Solid Brass Hardware From Italian Workshops: We use solid brass hardware and zippers from Italy's workshops; plated zinc alloy tarnishes at the joints and chips before the leather softens. Our messenger bags weigh between 1.55 kg (3.42 lbs) and 2.3 kg (5.07 lbs) empty, and a 16-inch laptop loaded with papers and cables piles on several kilograms more. We chose brass because that combined load pulls at zipper teeth and strap rings every time you swing the bag onto your shoulder. Our zippers are YKK on every model.
• 5-Year Repair Warranty: Each bag carries a 5-Year Limited Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, with repair as the remedy at no charge. We chose 5 years over the 1-year coverage we have seen most often at this price tier. If a stitched seam pulls, a brass clasp fails or a strap ring tears within 5 years, we fix it.
• No Logo Plate, No Printed Wordmark: Our messenger bags carry no logo plate on the outside, no metal nameplate at the strap base, no printed wordmark on the flap. We press a discrete VB into the leather and engrave VON BAER subtly onto the lock and zipper hardware: quiet identifiers for the owner, not public branding. Each bag we ship goes out with the one mark you choose: up to four uppercase initials, hand-pressed in heated brass type onto the matching leather luggage tag at no extra charge.
• Duties and Taxes Included: Von Baer absorbs every applicable duty and tax globally, ships via DHL Express and insures every order in transit. • No.2 Leather Messenger Briefcase - If you want the messenger profile but you carry confidential papers and a 16-inch laptop, the No.2 is the hybrid we built for that exact slot. We compacted it to a double-gusset, padded the sleeve on both sides of the back compartment and added a dual key-lock closure: the messenger silhouette wears casual on the shoulder, but the dual locks keep the bag closed if you set it down at the coffee counter. The No.2 measures 40 cm (15.75 in) wide, 30 cm (11.81 in) tall and 11 cm (4.33 in) deep at 1.55 kg (3.42 lbs).
• No.1 Premium Leather Briefcase - When you arrive at hearings, depositions or partner meetings and the bag is on the table beside you, the No.1 is the flagship we built for that moment. We built it with a triple-gusset interior, a padded central compartment for laptops up to 16 inches, a key-lock closure across the top, two internal pockets and three pen slots so an A4 brief stops fighting a power cable for the same compartment. The No.1 measures 40 cm (15.75 in) wide, 29 cm (11.42 in) tall and 14.5 cm (5.71 in) deep at 1.7 kg (3.75 lbs).

The Elegant has a single-compartment layout, a padded laptop sleeve, three pen slots and slip pockets for phone and tablet, with overall dimensions of 40 cm (15.75 in) wide by 30 cm (11.81 in) tall by 8 cm (3.15 in) deep.
• City Large Leather Laptop Bag - If your daily device is a 17-inch laptop, the City Large is the bag in this range we built around it. We built it with a dedicated padded central compartment sized for 17-inch screens, two quick-access exterior pockets, a large internal zipped pocket, slip pockets for phone and tablet and a slim 12 cm (4.7 in) depth so the bag stays close to your body even when fully loaded. The City Large measures 42 cm (16.5 in) wide and 32 cm (12.6 in) tall at 1.8 kg (4 lbs), with rounded top handles for the desk-to-meeting hop and an adjustable shoulder strap if you would rather wear it.
• 10X Leather Laptop Travel Bag - For frequent travelers, the 10X is the one bag we point them at. We designed it to convert between backpack, messenger and travel-bag carry; it fits a 15.6-inch laptop sleeve (the 16-inch MacBook Pro fits) and it expands from roughly 21 liters to 28 liters when an overnight runs longer than planned. The 10X is carry-on personal-item compliant on most major airlines, with four detachable padded inner organizers, plus top and side leather grab handles.
