Buying Guide

Every Von Baer wallet in this range ships with RFID blocking as standard, built into full-grain Italian leather (Cuoio Superiore certified vegetable-tanned on every format except the W2 zip-around, which we cut from full-grain pebble calfskin). The electronic shield layer sits inside the material stack thin enough that the Minimalist still measures 0.2 cm (0.08 in) with it in.

We line each one in smooth water-repellent taffeta and back the order with our 5-year repair warranty and complimentary hand-applied blind embossing.

Von Baer rfid leather wallets. Secure carry with refined Italian craftsmanship.

Von Baer rfid leather wallets start with a clear design call: we build the blocking layer into the material stack from the outset, so the wallet reads as full-grain Italian leather first and carries the shield as part of the same spec. Cuoio Superiore certified full-grain on 4 of the 5 formats (full-grain pebble calfskin on the W2 zip-around), water-repellent taffeta lining inside and a shielding layer thin enough that the ultra-slim Minimalist card holder still measures 0.2 cm (0.08 in) with RFID blocking in place.

  • Full-Grain Italian Leather: We specify Cuoio Superiore certified Italian vegetable-tanned full-grain leather across 4 of the 5 formats in this range (the W2 zip-around uses full-grain pebble calfskin, covered in the highlights below), tanned over 48 to 72 hours using plant-based tannins - quebracho, mimosa and chestnut - compared to the industry-standard 8-hour chrome-tanning cycle. The slower absorption bonds tannins deeper into the collagen fibers, so the wallet builds a patina through daily pocket use rather than the stitched-edge peel you see on bonded or chrome-tanned alternatives within months of carrying it.
  • Water-Repellent Taffeta Lining: Every wallet in this range is lined with smooth water-repellent taffeta, which sits between the raw leather interior and whatever your cards and notes push against in your pocket. That's the layer that stops the damp, limp deterioration you get when an unlined wallet absorbs daily sweat and the occasional spilled drink for months on end.
  • RFID Blocking Across the Range: RFID blocking runs through every format we ship, from the 23 g (0.8 oz) Minimalist at 0.2 cm (0.08 in) thick up to the 220 g (7.76 oz) W2 zip-around. You don't pay extra for the layer on any format; RFID is part of the build spec, not sold separately as a security-wallet upsell.
  • International Bill Fit: Inside every bifold, trifold and passport wallet we've cut the bill compartments to fit the larger of USD, EUR or GBP notes. Drop a British or Euro note in and it sits flat inside the fold, not sticking out of the top like a tell that the wallet was cut only for the US dollar.
  • Embossing + 5-Year Warranty: Complimentary hand-applied blind embossing of up to 4 uppercase initials ships with every wallet at no charge, alongside a gift box and gift bag for milestone-purchase presentation and our 5-year repair warranty. The default across fashion leather accessories is monogramming charged separately and a 1-year warranty - five years of repair coverage on a pocket-weight accessory is the exception rather than the line.

Von Baer RFID protected leather wallets. Find the right format for daily carry and travel.

Choosing the right RFID-blocking wallet comes down to how many cards you actually carry, whether you still carry cash and how often you travel internationally. We sized each format in this lineup around card-count thresholds and travel scenarios: the Minimalist for under 8 cards front-pocket, the Classic Bifold for up to 10 cards with folded bills, the Heritage Trifold for 16-plus cards plus coins, the Harrington for passport-plus-cards-plus-foreign-notes and the W2 zip-around when everything needs to stay contained in transit.

  • Minimalist Leather Card Holder - Our benchmark for front-pocket carry: 10 x 8 x 0.2 cm (3.94 x 3.15 x 0.08 in), 23 g (0.8 oz), with 4 card slots that hold up to 8 cards between them and RFID blocking built into the same spec. Thinner than a stack of 5 credit cards and still fully shielded.
  • Classic Bifold Leather Wallet - Everyday bifold sized for professionals who carry cards alongside cash: 11 x 9.3 cm (4.3 x 3.7 in) of Cuoio Superiore full-grain leather, with 4 card slots plus 2 extra compartments for 6 more, bill compartments sized for USD, EUR or GBP and the same RFID shield layer as the rest of the range.
  • Heritage Leather Trifold Wallet - High-capacity pick for anyone who actually uses the 16-plus cards they carry - work, payment, loyalty, ID - with coin pocket space, two full-length bill compartments and a snap-closure fold to keep the stack flat. 13 cm (5.12 in) tall, 105 g (3.7 oz), with RFID shielding across the full card architecture.
  • Harrington Leather Passport Wallet - Built to solve the airport problem of juggling passport, boarding pass, bank cards and foreign bills across three separate pockets. 15 x 9.5 cm (5.9 x 3.74 in), with a dedicated passport slip, two full bill compartments sized for USD, EUR or GBP and the same RFID-blocking layer protecting everything inside.
  • W2 Leather Wallet - Zip-around for travelers who want everything contained: 19.5 x 11.5 cm (7.68 x 4.53 in), 220 g (7.76 oz), holding 16-plus cards in a full zipped perimeter with the same RFID-blocking layer. We swap Cuoio Superiore for full-grain pebble calfskin on this model because the pebble surface takes the high-friction contact of a zip-around better than a smooth finish over years of daily use.

Every wallet in this range ships with hand-applied blind embossing of up to 4 uppercase initials on the exterior at no charge, in a gift box and gift bag for milestone-purchase presentation. The figure on the product page includes DHL Express shipping, transit insurance and all applicable taxes and duties - we price once, openly, with no wholesaler or retailer margin layered on top of what the materials and labour actually cost.

More about our RFID wallet range

  • Benefits of carrying an RFID-blocking leather wallet The primary benefit is protection against contactless skimming - the electronic pickpocketing scenario where a scanner within a few feet of your pocket can read the data on any RFID-enabled payment or ID card. We build the blocking layer into every format at no extra cost, which means data security travels with you through crowded transit, airports and conferences without you having to switch wallets for travel. Because the shielding sits inside the material stack, you get the security without the bulk a security-first wallet adds; the Minimalist still benchmarks at 0.2 cm (0.08 in) thick.
  • How this range compares to a traditional leather wallet A traditional leather wallet carries cards and cash but offers no protection against contactless scanning, which leaves chip-enabled credit cards, debit cards and some government ID vulnerable to being read without your knowledge. Our range carries the same full-grain Italian leather architecture as a traditional fine wallet - Cuoio Superiore certified vegetable-tanned hide, water-repellent taffeta lining, solid construction - and adds the RFID shield as part of the same spec, so you don't trade style or durability for security. Compared to a traditional wallet, the difference is functional parity on carrying your daily essentials plus a measurable reduction in skimming risk.
  • Travel and daily-use advantages For travelers, the Harrington passport wallet and W2 zip-around are cut for the airport scenario where passport, boarding pass, foreign bills and contactless payment cards sit in one shielded volume. For the daily commute, the Minimalist and Classic Bifold carry shielded essentials in a front pocket without reading as a tactical security product. Every format in the range ships with the same protection; you choose based on carry style, not on whether you want the RFID layer.

Frequently asked questions about RFID wallets

  • What is RFID and how does RFID blocking work? RFID (radio frequency identification) is the short-range wireless technology used in contactless credit cards, some government IDs and hotel key cards. An RFID-blocking wallet uses a conductive shield layer inside the wallet wall that disrupts the radio frequency between a scanner and the card, preventing a reader within a few feet from capturing the card's data.
  • How do RFID blocking wallets protect your credit cards? The shield layer in the wallet wall blocks the electromagnetic field that scanners use to read contactless payment cards, so the cards can't be read while they're inside the wallet. The shielding covers every card slot in our range, so every payment, ID and transit card is protected whenever the wallet is closed.
  • Will tap-to-pay cards still work in these wallets? Yes - you just remove the card from the wallet to tap. The shield blocks readers from reaching the card while it's inside the shielded compartment; at checkout, the card is out of the wallet and ready to transact.
  • What materials are used in our RFID leather wallets? Cuoio Superiore certified full-grain Italian leather on the exterior of 4 of the 5 formats (full-grain pebble calfskin on the W2 zip-around), smooth water-repellent taffeta on the interior and a conductive RFID-shielding layer between. Every wallet is handcrafted in family-owned Northern Italian studios.
  • Why choose a leather RFID wallet over a metal or nylon one? Because full-grain vegetable-tanned leather builds a patina through years of daily carry and holds a finish that a metal card case or nylon wallet does not. We integrate the RFID layer into the leather build rather than asking you to swap to a metal security case, so you carry security without giving up the leather aesthetic.
  • How do I care for the leather? Our full-grain Italian leather softens naturally through pocket use and develops a patina without any special treatment. If the surface picks up a mark, buff it gently with a dry soft cloth; for deeper conditioning, a light neutral leather balm applied sparingly twice a year keeps the surface supple. The taffeta lining wipes clean with a dry cloth.
